The September edition of Educational Leadership has an article titled, Why Educators Should Care About Games. The article hits on the potential that exists with educational gaming. I personally have done very little with educational gaming or virtual worlds, but I thought I'd give it a try today.
Wow, what an experience it was! I got signed up and stepped into the world of Second Life. Almost immediately I was speaking with someone in Spanish, which was more than a little challenging for me! A couple of seconds later, I was speaking with someone from Michigan. The potential to use these virtual worlds to connect with others around the world is amazing.
Quest Atlantis is an educational 3D multi-user environment designed for educators. The potential that exists with some of these tools may make them a part of the future of education. My best advice to anyone interested would be to get signed up and give it a try.
